Second Post Office (07426)
This undated image was of the second Post Office for Lynchburg, currently known as the Monument Terrace building. It was later used as the City Hall. The Police Station was located in the right rear. The bottom of Monument Terrace with the Fireman's Fountain can be seen in the foreground. This image was taken after 1911 and before 1924 when architect Aubrey Chesterman redesigned the bottom of Monument Terrace. The first post office was located on the south corner of Church and Ninth Streets, constructed in 1885. The roof of the First Baptist church is in the upper right background. A monument company is at the near right.
