An undated close-up image with a view of the mill, the dam to the left, and the embankment of Madison Heights in the right foreground. In the background directly behind the damn, (yet in a distance), is a small building which appears to be floating on the river but is actually situated on the riverbank. River Road was said to be in such poor condition that product would often have to be brought across the river from the Lynchburg side. It was destroyed in the 1940;s by arson.
