Smith Collection

The negatives were taken by James Thomas Smith of Lynchburg's African American community. He worked for the railroad
and did photography as a hobby. The donor found the negatives in the basement of Mr. Smith's home, her grandfather, who lived
in the area of Federal Street. Ca. 1940s-1960s

Dr. Wimbush Tribute 1966 V (03525)

A negative of a picture of a number of people seated around tables at a banquet. Donated in an envelope that reads "Apr. 3, 1966, Dr. Wimbush Tribute". Dr. Clarissa Wimbush Carey was a dentist who practiced at 913 Fifth Street from 1926-1977. Among those pictured are Jeannette Irvine, Alma Irvine, M. W. Thornhill.
