An undated photo of a Lynchburg Transit Company Brill bus used in transporting passengers in the City of Lynchburg VA. In 1891 Lynchburg Railway operated the electric streetcars that ran through the City. The Company was sold in 1898 and became the Lynchburg Electric & Light Company. In 1901 Lynchburg Traction and Light Company was the consolidation between Lynchburg Electric & Light and the gas and power companies in Lynchburg. In 1941, streetcars were no longer used in the City and now buses dominated public transit. The Company then became the Lynchburg Transit and remained a private-owned company until 1974 when the City of Lynchburg took it over. The Company was then renamed Greater Lynchburg Transit Company and remains GLTC until the present. The men are unidentified. The Brill bus was somewhat unique in that the engine was located mid-coach.
