Jackson Street School (00362)
The Jackson Street School was built in 1872 and was located at Ninth and Jackson Streets. This school was the first high school in the city for African American students. The building was being used for storage when this undated image was taken. It was later demolished and a Community Center is now located on the site. The original facility served as a YMCA for blacks until demolished.
